Victory Today Comments

Once it was the blessing, Now it is the Lord; Once it was the feeling, Now it is His Word. Once His gifts I wanted, Now the Giver own; Once I sought for healing, Now Himself alone. Once 'twas painful trying, Now 'tis perfect trust; Once a half salvation, Now the uttermost. Once 'twas ceaseless holding, Now He holds me fast; 

Once 'twas constant drifting, Now my anchor's cast. Once 'twas busy planning, Now 'tis trustful prayer; Once 'twas anxious caring, Now He has the care. Once 'twas what I wanted, Now what Jesus says; Once 'twas constant asking, Now 'tis ceaseless praise. Once it was my working, His it hence shall be; Once I tried to use Him, Now He uses me. Once the power I wanted, Now the Mighty One; Once for self I labored, Now for Him alone. Once I hoped in Jesus, Now I know He's mine; Once my lamps were dying, Now they brightly shine. Once for death I waited, Now His coming hail; And my hopes are anchored, Safe within the vail.

2 Timothy 4:6 "I am now ready to be offered... (literally - I am even now being poured out as a drink offering.)" 

I am ready to be offered.  It is a transaction of the will, not of the sentiments.  Tell God you are ready to be offered; then let the consequences be what they may, there is no strand of complaint now, no matter what God chooses.  God puts you through the crisis in private, no one person can help another.  Externally the life may be the same; the difference is in the will.  Go through the crises in will, then when it comes externally there will be no thought of the cost.  If you do not transact in will with God open this ... you will end in sympathy and self pity.

"Bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar."  The altar means a fire, a burning and purification and total separation to God to one purpose only.  It means the destruction of every attachment that is not of God. 

You don't destroy it, God does; you bind the sacrifice to the horns of the altar. We must see that self pity and self piety do not pollute the sacrifice when the fire begins.  After this way opening up to the fire there is nothing that oppresses or depresses our soul.  The life has been given; the reasonable service made, God has consumned the sacrifice completely.  When the crises arises you realize that nothing touches you or deters you as before.  Your life has already been offered.  Your will has already been surrendered.  You are not your own but bought with a price.  

Tell God today that you are ready to be offered.  God will prove Himself to be all you ever dreamed He would be.  Victory is possible -- Life overcomes death and you can walk in His light.  Surrender today in Jesus' Name!

So many times as believers we are caught in a trap celebrating the Resurrection one day a year, and never giving a second thought to how it applies to their life today.  One of the keys to Victorious Christian Living is understanding its meaning and knowing God's thought concerning its message.  Christ overcame death showing me that I will someday, but the Gospel message is a present message and I must know and act on this truth in Scripture today!

Look at Paul's message to Philippi in Philippians 3:10 -- our theme Scripture -- "O that I might know Him in the power of His resurrection; in the fellowship of His sufferings; being made conformable to His death."  This speaks to us of the cyclic relationship between the resurrecton, the suffering, and the death of Christ.  The Holy Spirit did not present this out of order but in complete harmony with the spiritual message we are to realize.   The knowledge of Him is priceless and that knowledge is gathered up around the Cross and redemption of our Lord Jesus.

We must know this resurrection power in its reality.  Our challenge to you is to prayerfully consider this message.  Asking God to give victory over death, suffering, and bring us to the knowledge of this great truth. 

You can have that knowledge and possess true Victory Today!
